The Toyota Land Cruiser has a reputation that precedes it. It's built to handle just about anything, on the street or off it. This one came into our Fort Worth shop with all that capability already under the hood, it just needed a stance to match. That is exactly what this build was about.

The Goal

The owner wanted the Land Cruiser to finally look as capable as it feels. That meant more clearance and a tougher stance, but without losing the clean factory lines that make the Land Cruiser what it is. No going overboard, just a setup that works as hard as the truck does.

Step One: The Lift

We started with a 3-inch ReadyLIFT suspension kit. This gave the Land Cruiser the height it needed to clear larger wheels and tires, while keeping the factory proportions intact. ReadyLIFT kits are a popular choice for Toyota and Land Cruiser owners because they add real ride height and clearance without disrupting the ride quality or the vehicle's original geometry.

Step Two: Wheels & Tires

Next, we mounted a set of Fuel Off-Road Foxhound wheels in a 18x9 fitment, wrapped in Nitto Recon Grappler tires sized 285/70R18. This combination fills out the wheel wells and gives the Land Cruiser a much more aggressive footprint, while still sitting right for daily driving. The Recon Grappler is built for exactly this kind of setup, equally at home on pavement or on the trail.

The Result

More clearance, stronger proportions, and a noticeably tougher presence, all without changing what the Land Cruiser is at its core. It is a build that looks just as ready for a trailhead as it does for a Fort Worth parking lot, which is really the whole point of a Land Cruiser in the first place.

Build Summary:

  • 3-inch ReadyLIFT suspension kit

  • Fuel Off-Road Foxhound wheels, 1x9 fitment

  • Nitto Recon Grappler tires, 285/70R18
