GMC Yukon Build: 6-Inch Lift, 37-Inch Tires & Matte Black PPF in Fort Worth

Black lifted GMC Yukon being displayed at Custom Koncepts in Fort Worth

A GMC Yukon is one of the most common trucks we see roll into our Fort Worth shop, and it's easy to understand why. It's a daily driver, a family hauler, and with the right build, a genuinely aggressive-looking rig. This one came in for exactly that kind of transformation, and it's a great example of how far a Yukon can go without losing its functionality.

The Goal

The owner wanted two things that don't always go together: a bigger, more aggressive stance, and a finish that would actually protect the investment long-term. So before we touched suspension or wheels, we started with protection.

Step One: Matte Black PPF

We wrapped the entire vehicle in matte black paint protection film from Legend PPF. Not just a cosmetic choice,  PPF shields the paint from rock chips, road debris, and everyday wear, while the matte finish gives the Yukon a stealthy, blacked-out look before a single suspension bolt is turned. For Fort Worth and DFW drivers who put real miles on their vehicles, this step alone is worth considering on almost any build.

Step Two: The Lift

Next came a 6-inch Rough Country lift kit, giving the Yukon the height needed to clear much larger tires and completely changing its stance. A lift like this is one of the most requested upgrades we do on full-size GM SUVs and trucks, and it's the foundation that makes everything else in this build possible.

Step Three: Wheels & Tires

With the lift in place, we mounted a set of  20x10 TIS 544B wheels in gloss black, wrapped in 37-inch Nitto Recon Grappler tires. The combination of wheel offset and tire size here is what gives the Yukon its aggressive fitment: being wide enough to fill the wheel wells, tall enough to make a statement, without rubbing or clearance issues.

The Finishing Touch: Blacked-Out Emblems

To tie the whole look together, we blacked out the front and rear GMC emblems. It's a small detail, but it's often the difference between a build that looks finished and one that looks like it's missing something. On an all-black build like this, chrome emblems tend to stick out; blacking them out keeps every angle consistent.

The Result

What started as a stock Yukon has a much different presence: it is taller, wider, more aggressive, and protected from the elements.
